Whitley Penn Poaches Someone From KPMG and Issues a Press Release, Part I

As 2019 winds down, we’d be remiss not to tell you guys that another KPMGer has recently left the House of Klynveld for the greener pastures of an accounting firm outside of the top 25. Earlier this month it was David Roberts leaving KPMG for Mauldin & Jenkins. Now we have Michael Pham who left KPMG to join Whitley Penn as a tax senior manager.

Pham has nearly 10 years of tax compliance and consulting experience with public and private companies.  He has extensive experience advising clients on partnership transactions and structuring. He focuses primarily on the following industries: private equity, real estate, restaurant, manufacturing, hospitality, and technology.

“We are excited to welcome Michael to Whitley Penn. His varied experience will be an asset to our department and our clients,” stated Toby Cotton, Partner in Charge of the Tax Department at Whitley Penn.

Pham didn’t spend a lot of time as a tax manager at KPMG—just eight months, according to his LinkedIn profile. But he did spend several years in the tax practice at Montgomery Coscia Greilich, which merged with Baker Tilly earlier this year.

Before embarking on a career in the wild world of public accounting, Pham was a revenue agent at the IRS for five years.

Pham is based in Whitley Penn’s office in Plano, TX.
