Scrappy Accounting Outfit Finally Displaces Stalwart Rival As St. Louis’ Largest Firm

Clayton-based RubinBrown, a long-standing fixture atop […] the area’s largest accounting firms ranked by number of local CPAs, fell to the No. 2 spot this year. The firm, which also has offices in Kansas City and Denver, employs 167 CPAs in St. Louis and 227 firm-wide. PwC, ranked second last year, moved up to take the top spot with 173 CPAs here. The firm has been steadily growing the number of CPAs in its St. Louis office over the last couple years, and its total this year is up from 156 in 2011 and 146 in 2010. The “Big Four” firm makes its U.S. headquarters in New York, and has more than 770 offices firm-wide.
