Scott and Company Poaches Someone From EY and Issues a Press Release, Part I

I don’t have any evidence to back up this assertion, but I’m not going to let facts get in the way of what I’m about to write: It’s fairly uncommon for a Big 4 CPA’s next landing spot to be an accounting firm outside of the top 400 in the U.S.

Richard Bhola

But that’s what happened recently, as Columbia, SC-based firm Scott and Company enticed Richard Bhola to leave EY and take a leadership position as a member in Scott’s assurance and advisory services practice.

Bhola started his career in public accounting at KPMG, according to his LinkedIn profile. He then moved on to EY in 2008.

His latest move to Scott isn’t the first time he’s left the Black and Yellow. According to his LinkedIn profile, Bhola had three separate stints with EY.

And the Guyana native says he likes golf, so at least he’s got that going for him at Scott.

With over twenty (20) years of professional audit and industry accounting experience, including his experience working with two Big 4 accounting firms and having served in audit leadership positions for a large number of engagements, Richard has a wealth of experience and valuable working knowledge. He is licensed to practice as a certified public accountant in both North Carolina and California and is currently working on obtaining his reciprocal license in South Carolina.

“We are very excited to have Richard join the Scott and Company team,” says Don Mobley, CPA, Managing Member of Scott and Company LLC. “His vast experience and technical know-how are incredibly valuable. He is a great addition to our firm.”

Bhola obtained his Chartered Certified Accountant designation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the U.K. He has been a fellow of the ACCA since 2009.
