So, I’ve been back here for almost three months (time flies when you’re flinging salt, I know) and the one complaint I keep hearing is about the comment section. More specifically, the inability to upvote the good and downvote the bad. I get it. Trust me, many a day was spent back in this website’s heyday downvoting every one of Big4Veteran’s comments on a slow news day.
Lest we be accused of not listening to you, and after much hand-wringing on the part of our handlers who, trust me, put in some time and effort to make this happen: DISQUS IS BACK! I’ll have you know it took me no less than two conference calls to mildly argue for why it should return. Obviously my underwhelming passion on the subject spoke to TPTB, so it’s back.
Now I recall some of the GC faithful complaining about Disqus back in the day, but listen, this is the best solution right now. You get to passive-aggressively downvote dumb comments, I get to take it easy on moderation, and more importantly, threaded replies should make it easier to directly argue with B4V or any other bloviating trolls who may wander in here seeking a brief reprieve from pivot tables.
Other than the interface, nothing has changed since we brought comments back in July. You’re still expected to follow the community guidelines and play nice. Well, “nice.”
If you’re new to Disqus, you’ll have to create an account. This is fairly easy to do, just follow the prompts using either your preferred social account (not recommended) or email address. If you’re not, you can use your old account or, if you’re embarrassed of your prior behavior, create a new one and start over.
