McGladrey’s Great Lakes Leader Is Gonna Take Off Now

Look! A gopher! And some guy with a pole. We've heard from a few people that McGladrey's Great Lakes Regional Leader David Shane is leaving the firm and it seems a little unexpected.  Mickey G's CEO Joe Adams sent this message out on Monday:
I’d like to inform you that David Shane will be leaving McGladrey effective August 15. Jim Mansk will act as managing partner of the Great Lakes region on an interim basis.

Jim has been with McGladrey for more than 30 years. He has held a variety of leadership roles in the region, including his current and ongoing role as regional assurance leader. I have confidence that Jim will prove a strong leader during this transition.

We will soon begin a search for a new regional managing partner, and we’ll let you know when that work is complete. In the meantime, please join me in giving Jim your full support in his interim role.

Best regards,
Joe
One of our tipster remarked "wonder what the real story is" and everyone we've spoken to so far has no idea and/or isn't talking. It does seem a bit sudden, doesn't it? And Joe Adams doesn't really mince words on D. Shane's departure, focusing more of his message on what a stand-up guy Jim Mansk is and how he'll handle this interim like a champ. I suppose there's any number of explanations, but the tone of the email might suggest that Joe & Co. are only mentioning it now so they never have to speak of this again.

McGladrey spokeswoman Terri Andrews declined to comment, citing the firm's policy of not commenting on personnel matters, so who knows! I guess we'll have to discuss it amongst ourselves.
