Going Concern March Madness 2012: Is There Anything Cool About These Final Four Firms?

After two rounds of intense competition to determine the coolest accounting firm, we have come down to the final four. The Usual Suspects are long gone and the remaining favorite, Grant Thornton, was tattooed in the second round.

So who are we left with? What firms are desperately hanging on to be accepted as, not just a fine organization, but a cool one? A firm whose name you'd drop with the hopes that they immediately beg you to take their résumé? Let's take a look-see:

Okay, so there's last year's champion of cool, Rothstein Kass but these other three…I mean, yeah. So, I know what you're thinking, "I've never heard of these firms, so there's no way they are cool." And you might be right! So I tried to find something – anything! – that might be slightly cool and this what I found:

JH Cohn – Founder Julius H. Cohn, one of the country's first CPAs, founded the firm in 1919. So almost 100 years in business is kinda cool. Reaching the century mark would be better but 93 is still pretty good.

BKD – CEO Neal Spencer looks like he's from the future! And the future is undeniably cool.

EisnerAmper – Ummmm, well, apparently the firm was cool enough to have CEO Charles Weinstein be part of a panel at the PCAOB's open meeting last week. I'm sure that is grounds for cool to some of you.

So there you have it. I did my best to find something cool about these three unknowns. Yes, it's very, very disappointing, so if you're aware of any cool stories (read: good gossip) about these firms, do share below or email us.  With these things in mind, let's get to the voting, shall we? Polls are open until Sunday night, 11:59 pm.
