Have you ever worked for a boss* who literally doesn't give a shit? I mean, calling in sick or just disappearing with no explantion during crunch time, never offering to help when you're swamped, never actually reviewing anything you send them (i.e. just signing it and saying "it looks great!"), never saying anything in meetings, never giving you meaningful coaching or feedback, etc. And the people above this person either don't see the problem, or are too chickenshit to do anything about it.
How do you cope with this situation? What can you do about it? How do you keep yourself motivated when the person above you clearly doesn't care about anything work related?
I'm asking for a friend.
*My question pertains to bosses in private industry. Obviously, anyone who has worked a long time in public has encountered a demoralized and apathetic senior manager at some point.
