Considering doing M&A due diligence

I am interested in doing M&A due diligence within the Big 4.  Has anyone done it before?  What is the work like?  What are the exit opportunities?

It sounds like it would be very intersting while also intense.  I don't mind working hard, since I don't have kids or anything right now.  But when i do have kids, I want a more flexible job, once where it is more 9 to 5 and where I can make it home for dinner every night etc.  So I am curious as to if I were to switch into M&A, what the career opportunities would like after I do that for a few years.  Right now I am in Audit and I can't decide if I should just stay in Audit or make the switch.

Any information would be very helpful!
