Save the Date: AICPA Conference on Current SEC and PCAOB Developments

As Going Concern's official Washington correspondent (read: the one who lived in an awesome condo in the DC hood), it's up to me to head home next week to cover the AICPA Conference on Current SEC and PCAOB Developments from December 9 – 11. I know, you're as excited as I am about this JUST TONE IT DOWN ALREADY, geez.

The event will be simulcast in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York or you can attend online from the comfort of your office (note: AICPA members get a discount on registration, and CGMA holders get an even bigger discount so don't say it never did anything for you). If all of that is too much of a pain, I'll be tweeting as much of it as I can stand before my thumbs go numb.

All the big names will be there, like Jim Doty, Russ Golden and even Hans Hoogervorst. Who dares me to try to get him to autograph this picture?

These appear to be the hot topics we're looking forward to hearing all about:

  • New SEC leadership
  • The latest on Dodd–Frank, including conflict minerals
  • Implementation guidance on the imminent new revenue recognition standard
  • SEC disclosure and enforcement initiatives
  • PCAOB’s proposed new auditor reporting model
  • What to expect after a FCPA violation allegation

Dear God, I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday week than in a monkey suit tweeting about this. Honestly. It's sad, actually.

Anyhoo, see you there if you'll be there and see you on Twitter if not. If you are in town but not planning on attending, meet me at the bar.
