When informing people that, despite their best efforts, they don't have what it takes to be a resident of the House of Klynveld, management has decided that a pre-recorded message will be best in avoiding uncomfortable situations:
An email asked 500 of the firm’s management consultants to dial in to a pre-recorded message giving details of a redundancy programme. The message they then heard referred to senior managers and directors working with private sector clients, being at risk. An insider said that those working with government were also in danger. […] The KPMG voicemail was recorded by a senior partner, Julian Thomas, who received a bonus of £683,000 in January. Mr Thomas said: “This is a message going out to all in corporates. The corporate business is facing a challenging market…[we are] 51pc down on bottom line profitability compared with this time last year.”
