KPMG Says Meg Whitman Doesn't Know What She's Talking About

Earlier today we learned that the rest of the Big 4 joined in PwC's November to remember, by getting named in mega lawsuits. Good times all around.

HP investors are suing, among others, KPMG for its part in allegedly missing the "accounting improprieties" that were at HP acquisition Autonomy.

When HP CEO Meg Whitman had the distinct pleasure of sharing the news of her company's latest shitshow, she mentioned that KPMG was "hired to 'audit' the work of Deloitte, Autonomy’s former auditor, as part of its due diligence for the deal."

That's not exactly how the House of Klynveld would put it:

The US arm of KPMG is now quibbling with this description, saying it was not engaged to perform any formal audit work by HP but merely provided it with “a limited set of non-audit related services” in relation to the deal.

Hope that clears it up, Meg.
