How awful is this day? I mean, not just for you guys, for everyone. So many expectations, so much disappointment, so many reasons to swear this is the last year you'll actually acknowledge this as a holiday. If it weren't for the picked clean shelves of pathetic I LOVE YOU teddy bears and tiny Dove chocolates at CVS, you wouldn't even know it's a holiday. Except for that special someone nagging about how you never make time for them.

Since many of you are probably up to your necks in busy season and love is the last thing on your mind, we made some eCards just for you. We sincerely hope you enjoy them because while this holiday may be a joke and while it may not appear that way most of the time, we really do love you.

Madoff Auditor to Plead Guilty Next Week

“The government anticipates that, at the pretrial conference scheduled for Nov. 3, 2009 … David G. Friehling, the defendant, will plead guilty pursuant to a cooperation agreement with the Government,” prosecutors said in a letter to the judge handling the case in Manhattan federal court.

According to the WSJ, “Mr. Friehling is expected to plead guilty to are securities fraud, investment advisor fraud, obstructing or impeding the administration of Internal Revenue laws, and four counts of making false filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.” Since he’s flipping, Friehling will likely not face the maximum sentence of 108 years but he still probably shouldn’t make any long term plans.
Friehling will be third person related to the Madoff scheme to plead guilty and this will no doubt be the last time that we hear about an auditor admitting guilt.

Thank God There’s a Facebook Specifically for Accountants Now

HubStreet.com allows you to network professionally without that guy in IT trying to add you as connection because god, he’s such a geek.
No, HubStreet is here to make sure that those lesser beings out there can’t impose upon you in the virtual networking universe because you must enter your license number to even be allowed to register with the site*.

HubStreet also claims “Take the Work Out of Networking” because God forbid you talk to anyone face to face or leave your home or office to meet other people. Or actually call them on the phone. THE HORROR.
HubStreet just finds people that thinks you’ll interact well with professionally and puts you in contact with them. Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any sort of physical attraction widget implemented yet so you will probably most certainly continue to fail hooking up with your chosen “connections”.
