Footnotes: Accountant Murderer Gets Sentenced; Tax Avoidance; Let’s Not Labor | 08.29.14

Ed. note: we're cutting out early for the long weekend in case you didn't notice. As usual, we're lurking around, so give us a holla if you need anything. Otherwise, we'll meet you back here on Tuesday. Have a wonderful Labor Day, you laborious little capital market servants. ~AG

Man sentenced for murder of West Michigan accountant Andy Brown, 37, maintained his innocence while speaking before the court Friday morning as he was sentenced to 37 1/2 years in prison. His wife said she stands by Brown and they plan to appeal. On July 14th, a jury found Brown guilty of second-murder of his boss, CPA David Locey, 70, and guilty of felony firearm. As the St. Joseph County Circuit Court clerk read the verdict, it was hard to find a dry eye in the room: several of the 12 jurors were red-eyed and both families of Brown and Locey wept silently.
