Dangers of working in public accounting…

By | September 18, 2017

Curious if anyone here has any experience or advice when it comes to working with highly affluent clients in public accounting…specifically in regards to powerful or “tax evading” clients.

It may be more common at smaller firms, but I have seen and heard stories about Partners being roughed up by clients in an attempt to persuade their accountant to do something in their favor.

You might see about it in the movies, but does anyone have experience with this in real life? The thing is as Partner at a smaller firm, you want to keep the business of the highly affluent clients because they are keeping you in business, but they also have dominance over you and might “persuade” you to do something illegal/unethical in their favor.

What are your thoughts/experiences with this?
