Here’s the PwC Partner Class of 2015

    By | May 29, 2015

Well, this is exciting. The list of new PwC partners fell into our lap earlier today and now we're sharing it with you. They all officially join the partnership on July 1, the firm's New Year's Day.

There are 201 partners in the 2015 class, one of the largest ever. The firm named 180 last year, 157 in 2013, 165 in 2012, 136 in 2011, and 83 in 2010.

Unless Google Spreadsheets betrayed me, the line of service breaks down as 63 Advisory, 82 Assurance, and 56 Tax.

Some other interesting stats that were shared with us include:

    • 57% have advanced degrees
    • 27% have international experience
    • 20% are fluent in two or more languages
    • 30% are women
    • 21% of new partners are Asian, Hispanic or Black
    • Overall 43% diverse

In an email, U.S. Chairman and Senior Partner Bob Moritz said lots of nice things about these people but most notably that the size of the class, "speaks to the opportunities within our firm and the opportunities we see in the marketplace." So don't lose hope senior managers!

Congratulations to all of PwC's new partners!

    • Accountant4life

I love how most people comment on how an advanced degree is worthless. It appears that this is evidence against that argument.

      • buthurt

Another way to look at this would be these people could not find decent jobs after graduating with bachelors, and thus had to do a master’s degree to get employed, thus explaining their incompetence in managing shit

        • Yuckountant

          fucking bingo right here

      • KM

Because 57% is compelling evidence? 4/10 new pwc partners don’t have an advanced degree, so the difference between having one and not is pretty marginal.

        • taxintern

It’s MAINLY the audit partners without advanced degrees. Most tax managers/directors are strongly encouraged to get an MST (paid for by the Firm), and I would bet that a lot of Advisory partners have MBAs.

          • KM

Numbers make sense. Based on the list above, approx. 40% of new partners are in audit.

        • aegis1

The difference is marginal now, but the average new partner is in his/her late 30s/early 40s and is less likely to have an advanced degree.

Masters are far more common for the younger crowd. About 80% of the new hires at my firm have a masters, so it’s going to be expected in the future.

          • Adam Hill

Might have to do with needing the 5th year to sit for the exam that started 15 years ago. And I have $5 on you having one.

    • Yuckountant

Today, we had a meeting with a partner. He praised one of the guys on this list as being very reliable because he remembers how he was taking calls on a holiday with kids screaming in the background.

The idea of taking phone calls on a holiday while your kids are trying to spend time with you. Truly the life of a Big 4 partner…. :/

      • TurtlyEnough

Incredibly illustrative of the career above all mentality of public accounting.

I hate how CPA firms have leveraged and exploited career growth and exit opportunities. The firms get the benefit of paying shit salaries on stupid hours because they can trumpet how great your opportunities will be.

Yes, the opportunities are real, but are they really worth the impending divorce, depression, and liver failure?

      • buthurt

My favorite part of every engagement is asking my team whether they prefer their current role or a corresponding roll at the client.

        Would you rather be:
        1. Partner or CFO
        2. Senior Manager or Director
        3. Manager or Manager
        4. Senior or Senior Analyst
        5. Staff or Analyst

        • Diving Duck

I play this game too but audit much smaller clients. Usually my answer is always to be on the other side.

        • Commando

Partners are not CFO level, unless you are talking about a small client. Partners are the equivalent of Controller, or at the biggest companies the Director of Financial Reporting.

          • buthurt

Their ego is definitely at CFO level, if not higher

            • Commando

No doubt about it. Partners think they are at least peers of CFOs often CEOs, but their range is very narrow and they are backward looking. They are often paid more than CFOs, which gives them this false sense of superiority. Few Big Four partners can cut it at a real CFO job, although there are exceptions.

    • The Horniest Partner

Hmmm Toledo or Tokyo, Tokyo or Toledo…..I think I’m turning Japanese, I think I am turning Japanese I really think so

      • big 17 auditors

Which state is Tokyo in? Was it somewhere in West Virginia? This is a list of P Dubs U.S. Partners correct?

        • Commando

The US firm owns the Japanese firm. PwC’s old Japanese firm got banned.

      • willie phuister

I turn Japanese every other day.

        • The Horniest Partner

You still must be young. Every full moon for me.

          • willie phuister

actually, i am rather advanced. from age 13 to 4X, i turned japanese every single day. now i am in every other day mode, as the “off” days are interacting with the misses.

            • The Horniest Partner

That’s impressive..I can’t have a dry well when the old lady wants some so it’s usually when she’s out of town, I am out of town or I try to “squeeze” one in during the week as I know duty calls on the weekend.

    • KM

I don’t know what Christine del Rosario does, but she seems to have an entire LOS named after her.

      • isurvivedeytwice

        Hilarious.

    • LIFO the Party

      Stupid article.

      • Caleb Newquist

        Your username is incorrect.

    • Rtruth12

Congrats to these new partners in all sincerity. What people don’t realize however is that making partner is not the summit of public accounting like it’s made out to be. It’s actually the bottom of an even larger totem pole with higher stakes

      • willie phuister

dat is true. so true. many of the partners flame out, career wise but still remain partners. been there, doing that.

    • iamthelolrus

For the purposes of these lists, does consulting fall under advisory?

Or is this just people in accounting related lines of service?

I ask because the firm itself does differentiate between consulting and advisory, but I don’t know if consulting still falls under the same umbrella

    • sludgemonkey

Are PwC partners still insufferable pricks?
