The Pacific Northwest Area leaders have a town hall meeting in the Area offices. The retiring Area Managing Partner and incoming partner both show videos of each other to “introduce” them to the little people. These videos brag about how one collects ferraris (shows other partner in his ferrari at the show room) and the other shows the incoming partner’s closet full of Jimmy Choo shoes. And the best part?? It was at this meeting where they tell people (everyone from admin to partners) that they are making 5% cuts in December…And then of course they proceed to go through multiple rounds of cuts – Dec, March, June and not sure if it is over.

We enjoy an Italian sports car as much as the next guy but for crissakes, using it to segue into layoffs? Do you think they ran this script by anyone or did they just wing it? If you’ve got other stories of tawdry behavior, by all means, pass them along.

Did you independently confirm that from two sources Caleb? Or did one person send you an email claiming this happened?
I call bullshit unless you saw pics or multiple sources told you this.

@1 – that’s so freaking ridiculous it has to be true! It’s happening all the time now.
@1 – you’re obviously the partner with something to hide.

@1 got a 8% pay cut and is just playing bitter betsy.

Which Ferraris were they? Like Daytonas and 599s? Or a 79′ 308 GTC?
It matters.

Reeks Big 4. I am saying true which if it turns out to be false – still pretty sad that it is believable.

At a SW Townhall last year they made mention of a Parnter’s Porsche and another Partner’s Vette…

@1 This site is proclaimed to be a “Tabloid” which by definition, doesn’t have to be true to print — someone just has to have said that it was true. It doesn’t have to be verified by more than one person. That’s the beauty of this site, you can tell Caleb what happened to you and he’ll post it. He leaves it up to the reader to decide if they want to believe it or not.
And it going through a lot of these blogs, if you wait long enough, someone posts a comment corroborating the story. Stop auditing the blog and get a kick out of people’s idiocy.

Funny, in my office we had an ice breaker a few months ago and the partner that leads the group said his interesting fact was that he has two boats. The joke now is that we are having layoffs because he needs to gas up his boat. I was shocked that someone running a group of 400+ people would use that as their interesting fact these days.

I call BS on it. I have heard at least three partners say, in the last half year, that “it would be great if we got paid this year.” And my office managing partner wears ratty suits and has really bad b.o. Now, is that someone who rakes in the dough? I doubt it.

I can confirm this is true – talked to someone who attended. How no one dropped some bombshell questions after this, like “Where do you live, when we get canned we want to come after your Ferrari” is the real question.
If you haven’t realized that what the Partners take home is all that matters to them, wake up and smell the shit you have been rolling in your entire career. I don’t begrudge my partners – if I was a partner, the only thing I would do differently is make sure my best people are compensated, one way or another – they didn’t do that this year and I personally cannot believe some of our top performers are still sticking around.
PSW is way more conservative, btw. If I ever saw a partner driving a Ferrari…

E&Y isn’t the only big4 that should keep it on the down low. I recently had my no raise, no bonus, be glad to still have a job talk with the big wig which was followed by a conversation about how our practice is making more money this year than ever before. I wonder why…

@9
Paid means “Paaiidd”.. not like they’re not getting a draw but if they can’t give out raises then there is no fucking way they should get profit shares! Tell them to quit their bitching. Listen up and tell that managing partner to take a shower and stop living in his office because his house got foreclosed on! I call BS on the partner and the not getting “paid”..

@12
Yes, tell the partner to quit his or her bitching…and then wait for them to respond that you should quit acting like you have a job, because you don’t anymore.
I guess we can all have our dreams, can’t we…

I was one of the attendees it is all true.
